Bidders

Bidder numbers are not required or necessary when hosting an online/mobile auction.  Bidder numbers are needed when you are hosting an in-person or onsite event and will use Bid Sheets, a Live Auctioneer, a Paddle Raise, or some form of bidding where you want to be able to identify the guest with a bidder number.

In order to use Bidder numbers in CausePilot, they must be assigned to the user in CausePilot.

When the Auction + Tickets components are selected (active), CausePilot will automatically assign a bidder number to each ticket holder.

When only the Auction component is selected, CausePilot will NOT automatically assign bidder numbers.  However, you can assign them yourself.  See below for more detail.

1.  Purchaser.  The ticket purchaser would be assigned the original bidder number.  Bidder numbers will be assigned in the order in which the tickets are purchased and/or new contacts created as ticket holders.

2.  Additional Bidders.  If another person has been assigned a ticket (name change only) and is using the same account (email), they will be listed as an additional bidder and will also use the same bidder number.

3.  New Bidder Number.  When you need to assign a bidder number manually, click New Bidder Number.  You will simply Lookup User to choose a user that is in the system or create a new one, or Change User, if someone has already been selected.  Then, Create Bidder Number.

4.  Assign Drop-Down Button.  When it's necessary to assign bidder numbers you can do so by clicking the Assign button to open the drop-down menu.  Your choices are:

Assign Number - Opens a list of Contacts that do not yet have bidder numbers assigned.  Check the users/contacts that you'd like to assign a bidder number to and click Assign button to save.

Reassign Numbers -  Opens a list of Bidders and their bidder numbers, with the ability to change the bidder number to a different number.  Let's say you already have paddles and need to use the numbers that are pre-printed.  Here you can change the bidder numbers to reflect their paddles.

IMPORTANT:  You can not have (2) bidders with the same bidder number.  For example, if you have a bidder #1, you can't assign that number #1 to another bidder until the first has been changed to a different number not already in use.

Assign numbers to all - This will assign a bidder number to all Contacts.

Assign numbers to all ticket holders - This will assign a bidder number to all ticket holders.  This might be useful and/or necessary if you sold tickets prior to making the auction component also selected/active.  Then, you'd need to make sure all of your ticket holders had bidder numbers.
