Have an existing Stripe account?

Simply login and approve the connection.

Create a new Stripe account.

If you do not yet have a Stripe account, follow the directions to create one.

Once connected, you can begin accepting payments through your CausePilot software.

IMPORTANT:  Stripe may send you a confirmation email that requires you to confirm the creation of your account or provide further information to fully activate.

1.  Connected Account.  Once connected, you will see your Stripe account ID.

2.  Access Stripe.  You can quick access your Stripe account via this link/button.

NOTE:  You must have the Stripe login credentials to access.

3.  Address Check.  Option to require an address check.  This adds an extra step in the checkout process, requiring a user to enter the address that matches their credit card before checking out.  This is helpful if you need to know the actual payer rather than the purchaser from your CausePilot software.

Get the best Stripe rate.

For the best nonprofit rate, contact Stripe directly at nonprofit@stripe.com.

When you connect to Stripe, you are setting up a merchant account to process credit card transactions. This is a separate platform account from CausePilot, but integrated.  Stripe provides a reliable and easy checkout process through CausePilot.  Stripe is the industry standard in payment processing and widely used by many software platforms.

IMPORTANT:  When you set up a Stripe account and connect to CausePilot, Stripe's Terms and Conditions apply to all of your credit card processing.  Visit https://stripe.com/us/legal to learn more.

Stripe Pay-Outs

By default, funds will automatically payout to your organization's bank account every 2 days.  Open your Stripe account to change this to a different schedule.

Once connected, you can access your Stripe account directly from Settings.

As of October 1, 2019, the following information is available via Stripe.

Fee discount for nonprofit organizations

Stripe offers a discounted processing fee for qualifying nonprofit organizations. Stripe's custom charity pricing structure is only applicable for organizations accepting donations (e.g. not selling products or tickets), and by receiving these discounted rates, your organization will be agreeing to primarily use your Stripe account for this purpose.

If your organization has nonprofit status and will be processing 80% or more of donation payments on Stripe, email nonprofit@stripe.com with the following information:

  • Your EIN, or a letter from the IRS designating your 501(c)(3) status

  • Confirmation of the primary email address associated with your Stripe account

  • Confirmation that greater than 80% of your payment volume will be tax deductible donations.

    • Some examples of non-eligible donations include: membership fees, tuition payments, ticket sales, registration fees, and auction payments.
