Create a new email or new text message to be sent to recipients currently in Contacts or from your own list.

1.  Drafts.  All new custom email and text messages will begin as a draft.  Drafts will not be sent.  This is a place to stage your messages while you work on them.

2.  Open Message.  Click on the subject of the messages to open, view, and edit.

3.  New Message.  Choose New Email or New Text to start a new draft.

4.  Delete.  You can delete a message in the draft stage.

5.  Send.  When you are ready, click send to position your message in the pending stage.  If it is "scheduled" it will remain in pending until that time.  Then, it will be sent.  If it is not scheduled, it will be go out immediately.  However, sending may take a few minutes to complete depending on the number of recipients.  Refresh the page to see the change from Pending to Sent.

Creating Your Message

After you choose New Email or New Text, a page that looks like the following will open.

6.  Choose Recipients.  You have the option to choose ONE method to add recipients.

  • From Contacts.  You will choose which contacts will receive the message and their email or mobile number will be added to the field "Recipients".
  • From Filters.  You will select a filter so that the software will add the recipients from Contacts at the time the message is sent.
  • Add Manually.  Copy and paste email or mobile numbers in the field to send.  Each must be separated by a comma.

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT:  You may not send SPAM.  SPAM is unwanted email or text messages, or messages sent without the recipients permission.  If you send messages that your recipients perceive as SPAM, CausePilot will cancel/close your account.

7.  Edit Recipients.  Once you have selected the recipients, to edit or change them, you will see a button here.  Simply click it to open the editor.

8.  Subject.  This will be the subject line of your email and the name of your email or text message in the Custom table.

9.  Merge Tags.  If you'd like for your software to add the name of the recipient or any other available content automatically, simply choose a merge tag to add to your message.

10.  Message.  Enter your message in the body or content field.

IMPORTANT:  A text message should be VERY short.  Emails can be longer but, keep in mind, the longer it is, the less likely the recipient will read it.  Make sure the most important items are at the top, bulleted, and bold.

11.  Schedule your Message.  Leave blank if you plan to send your message right away or manually.  Choose a day/time if you'd like to send your message at a particular time.

REMEMBER:  You must still click SEND to place the email or text message in the Pending stage if it is to go out at a scheduled time.

Save.  Always Save your changes.  Saving will keep the message in "drafts".

Preview.  Preview the email to see an example of it.

Send Test.  We highly recommend sending yourself a test message prior to sending it out to all recipients.  When you see it, you might spot a typo or a problem.  And, the worst thing you can do is send messages over and over again with minor changes, as recipients find that annoying and could mark it as Spam.

Send.  Click send email when you are ready to push the message to a "pending" state to send immediately or at a scheduled time.
