Auction Setup

Auction Setup is where you begin to build your auction.  Here you set your defaults.

1.  Online and/or Onsite Auction.  Does your flight have just an online auction, just an onsite auction, or both?  Check the boxes that apply.  The reason you have the option of either/or is because, you may want to handle these catalog items differently.  They can have different begin and end times.

IMPORTANT:  Only items marked for the Onsite venue can be categorized as bid sheet/live.

2.  Is a Ticket or Registration Required?  When the Ticket or Registration component is active, along with the Auction component, you have the option to make having purchased a ticket or registration required.  Leaving this unchecked means anyone can participate.

3.  Begin and End.  Choose your beginning and end dates and times for your auction items that are marked to the Online or Onsite auction venues.  (See auction catalog for further instructions on venues.). As you create auction items, they will automatically have these default dates and times.

NOTE:  Individual auction items can have a custom begin and end time.

4.  Reset Item Times.  When you change or update your begin and end times, and you want to make sure that all items already entered into the catalog are updated, click Reset All Item Times.

5.  Items Active or Inactive.  Click Active or Inactive when you want to hide or show all auction items in your catalog.

6.  Event Location.  Adding an address for your event location will add the information to your landing page and include a link to Google maps to help visitors with directions.

7.  Update Auction.  Whenever you make a change to this page, always Update the Auction to save and submit your changes.

8.  Default Bid Increment.  Every auction item in your catalog must have a bid increment set.  The default helps you set a standard amount.  However, this can be changed and customized for each individual item.

9.  Default Pickup Instructions.  Add content to this field if you would like to include pickup instructions.  These pickup instructions will be added to the bottom of the user's payment receipt after they have paid for their items.

NOTE:  Pickup instructions can be customized on individual items.

10.  Overtime Bidding.  Overtime Bidding is a feature that allows you to add 10 minutes to an auction item if there is bidding activity within the last 5 minutes of the auction.  You can do this one (Single Time Extension) or until no more bids are coming in within the last 5 minutes (Unlimited Time Extension).  Some find this is a great way to make sure you are leaving no money on the table, when you have especially popular items.  Leaves no money on the table.

IMPORTANT:  When using Overtime Bidding, it's a best practice to advise guests, in advance, that this feature is in place.  This will minimize bidder frustration when they see that the auction end time keeps changing when they place their bids.
